Individual therapy

who individual therapy is for:

People come to individual therapy with me when they reach a point where staying the same is more painful than facing the unknown.

This work is for you if:

  • You feel anxious or overwhelmed even when life looks “fine” from the outside.

  • You struggle to feel your own needs, boundaries, or desires.

  • You’re tired of performing strength and keeping everything together.

  • You’re caught between longing for connection and fiercely needing space.

  • Your emotions either feel like too much or don’t show up at all.

  • You’re navigating heartbreak, major transitions, or relationship confusion.

  • You’ve done surface-level therapy before and want deeper, body-based, experiential work.

  • You’re ready to stop repeating the same patterns in relationships — especially the ones that leave you shut down, resentful, or overwhelmed.

If any part of you is saying “I can’t keep doing it this way,” you’re in the right place.

Narrow dirt path winding through tall forest trees, creating a quiet, introspective atmosphere.

What we do in individual therapy

This isn’t the kind of meeting where you just talk about your week.
This is work that helps you change from the inside out.

We slow things down so you can actually feel what’s happening in your body.
Most of your patterns live there — not in your thoughts.

We notice the subtle ways you protect yourself —
through shutting down, pleasing, leaving, collapsing, or bracing.

We explore the younger parts of you still trying to survive old dynamics.
Not to pathologize — but to understand your nervous system, your adaptations, and the intelligence behind them.

We practice having a real relationship with full transparency.
Meaning: we work with what arises between us as it happens — your discomfort, your longing, your mistrust, your boundaries, your anger, your humor, your defenses, your heart. You practice radical honesty in your relationship with me, holding nothing back.

This helps you build the muscle of vulnerability, and learn to trust that others can handle you in your fullness, however messy that might be.

This is how the work becomes embodied, not theoretical. And how it translates into the rest of your life. If you can learn to be fully open with me, you’ll be much more empowered to remain open in the rest of your relationships.

WHAT CAN CHANGE

Therapy doesn’t erase the past — it expands who you can be in the present. Through this work, people often experience:

  • Feeling more grounded, less reactive, and more in your body

  • A deeper sense of internal safety

  • Trusting your intuition and knowing what’s true for you

  • Being able to speak your truth without collapsing or exploding

  • Healthier boundaries (with far less guilt or defensiveness)

  • More authentic connection with partners, friends, and family

  • Healing of old relational patterns that have followed you for years

  • Finally feeling more like yourself — not the version you learned to perform

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s alignment, clarity, emotional honesty, and genuine relational freedom.

Small invitation

You don’t have to be in crisis to start therapy. You just have to want a life that feels real — not performed, not held together by sheer effort, not lived from old patterns that no longer fit.

If you’re ready to do the deeper work, I’m here.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most people start with a commitment of five sessions so we can establish safety, clarity and momentum. After that, we decide together what pace and duration fits your goals.

  • I generally meet with clients weekly in the beginning, because consistency builds trust and gives us good momentum. Bi-weekly is also an option if this works better for your situation.

Frequency can change over time as your needs and goals change.

  • For residents of Maine I offer in-person or virtual sessions, whatever you prefer. For residents of Washington I offer virtual sessions only.

  • I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Many clients, however, are able to receive partial reimbursement for therapy through their insurance plan.

You can find current session fees, information about insurance, and a tool to check out-of-network benefits here.

  • That’s what the consultation call is for. We can explore your questions, your goals, and whether the work I offer feels right for you.
